  • LINK: Gitmo Used As Photo Op? This Is My Shocked Face.

    NBC News:

The Trump administration has flown all of the migrants it had held in Guantánamo Bay out of the facility there, NBC News has learned from three sources familiar with the operation and flight data.

In response to a lawsuit, the Trump administration said that there were 178 immigrants, all from Venezuela, housed at Guantánamo Bay as of early Thursday.

A senior Department of Homeland Security official told NBC News that 177 of the 178 migrants at Guantánamo Bay were deported on Thursday. The one other person was sent to a detention facility in the U.S., the official said.

Gitmo has been a photo op for politicians since the 1960s, so that’s nothing new. I wonder what this one cost? Our tax dollars went to a dog and pony show so…what, some people can see all the brown folks in one place?

It’s ok to waste millions as long as it hurts the people we hate, right guys?

  • The WordPress Conundrum That’s Driving Me Crazy

If you are just coming to the website–as opposed to clicking on a link to a post–then you are at the Homepage. The Homepage consists of all the posts with the newest one on top. Each of these posts has a date under each one. This is NOT what I want. What I would like is to have the date at the top of the page, followed by all the posts on that day. then yesterday’s date, and all the posts for that day, and so on. An example would be Daring Fireball. However, I believe he is on something other than WordPress, so it’s not apples to apples.

It boils down to whether the thing that I want is part of “the loop”, the thing that displays the posts in order, for lack of a better term. If it is, I suspect it’s at the very beginning of the code. If not, it is above the loop in the code and I have yet to figure out the hook that will get me what I want.

    The learning continues apace.

    THR:

Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise, while Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the 60-year-old property. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM, including a vast catalog with more than 4,000 films and 17,000 TV shows.

I shudder to think of what’s coming for Bond. I believe No Time to Die was a logical end to the franchise. It should have been. The bottom line is that Bond should be cared for and produced by people who believe in the character and the one thing that never changed in 60 years: Bond is British.

Watters took to the air on The Five to raise the case of his friend, a veteran of 20 years, who was months into a new role at the Pentagon and still under probation but discovered this week that his job was set to be terminated as part of DOGE’s initiatives.

“But, see, what I meant wuz…”

Nope. This is what you asked for.

  • Could someone inform the Fanta Menace that it takes some wind out of his argument about returning to the office when he spent almost a full year of his first term on a golf course (307 days), and has spent about 8 days of his 29 days so far on the links.

Tell this idiot to have a Coke, a smile, and a fucking seat.

  • Today In ‘Today I Learned…’

You’ll notice on the two previous posts that there is no title. I was going down a WordPress rabbit hole, and I ended up on Matt Mullenweg’s blog. Matt is a co-founder of WordPress, so I think he’s caught up on what it can do. I was surprised to see posts with no title there. So I tried it here, and damn. Had no idea. So, they’re tweets, more or less. I’m sure you could cross-post them that way. It got me thinking of all the half-baked things I could have put here instead of Elmo’s hellscape.

    Go figure

  • Virginia Beach is forecast to receive 6-10 inches of snow (fun size!), and with that we get a reminder of the dumbest fucking law ever.

  • Incontrovertible proof that we are snow-fucked here in Virginia Beach: Cantore is here.
